Why Join LIWA?

Joining LIWA offers you a chance to keep informed and up-to-date with new treatments, research and approaches to how respiratory diseases are managed. This information is available through the publication of a quarterly newsletter sent to all members and access to a ‘members only’ area on our website upon joining. In addition regular events are held for members, as well as a number of enjoyable fundraising activities. If you hold a Medical/Scientific/Student membership you are eligible to apply for annual travel awards and PhD programmes.

LIWA appreciates the support and dedication of all of our current members. We are willing to make time to offer our members friendly advice, in return we encourage you to inform others about the Institute and the work that we do. Please feel free to pass on this newsletter if you know someone who would be interested in joining our Institute.

Ways to Support LIWA

The Lung Institute of Western Australia (LIWA) is an incorporated charitable body and an NH&MRC Accredited Research Institute. Our primary goal is to support high quality research into the treatment and management of patients with respiratory disorders, ranging from asthma and allergies to chronic respiratory conditions such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. This research includes examining the disease processes, investigating existing and potential treatment modalities and studying the impact which lung disease has on the individual and the larger community.

LIWA remains one of the two only integrated scientific and clinical research institute in Australia dedicated specifically to research into respiratory and allergic diseases. Public support is vital to enable our Institute to continue medical research in these important fields.
