Main Research Goals and themes

The unit’s research is focused on studies of exercise testing and training in patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary arterial hypertension. A particular focus of the research is the burden of disease in asthma and COPD.

Current Research Activities

  • Burden of disease and benefits of exercise in asthma
  • Reduction in hospitalisation in patients with COPD following pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Development of a reference equation for 6 minute walking distance
  • Quality of life and physical activity in levels in West Australian adults with asthma
