Centre for Clinical Trials and Population StudiesThe Lung Institute of Western Australia’s Centre for Clinical Trials and Population Studies was officially opened in December 1998 and is the first purpose built unit of its kind in Australia. The Centre is dedicated to the formal scientific evaluation of the clinical benefits of new respiratory medicines and new approaches to the management of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, other respiratory diseases and allergies. The research staff have a high level of knowledge in Good Clinical Practice Guidelines and ICH Guidelines, as well as extensive knowledge in asthma and other respiratory disease education. All studies are approved by the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Ethics and Clinical Drug Trials Committees, thereby ensuring participant confidentiality and safety. Become a Volunteer – Participate in a Clinical TrialThe Institute has many studies underway looking at new asthma medications and new medications for people with COPD (emphysema). We are always looking for people with or without asthma who are interested in volunteering to participate in long or short term pharmaceutical trials.
