A bequest is a gift which an individual leaves to an organisation in their will. A bequest can take the form of cash, property, shares or other assets.

Making a bequest is a way to give beyond your life time, a way to make a lasting contribution towards the fight against Lung Disease. Your bequest could play a vital role in contributing towards important research, education and support services funded by the Lung Institute of Western Australia.

Why leave a bequest to LIWA?

A bequest is an opportunity to ensure that the people and organisations that you believe are important continue to be looked after. Looking after loved ones is clearly the first priority. However, by leaving a bequest to an institute such as LIWA in your will you will help create a brighter future for those who suffer from asthma and other respiratory diseases. Bequests are warmly appreciated by our Institute as they enable us to plan for the future. Contributions are used to develop important services and areas of research which need assistance.

Alternatively, if you are currently in the process of preparing your will you can choose to follow the wording suggested below:

'I _____________________ bequeath unto the Lung Institute of Western Australia, Ground Floor, E Block, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Hospital Avenue, Nedlands, Western Australia for its general purposes _________________________________________ free of all succession, estate and other death duties and declare that the receipt of the Director or other proper officer of the Lung Institute of Western Australia shall be sufficient discharge to my Executors in respect thereof.'

The Australian Taxation Office has endorsed the Lung Institute of Western Australia as a deductible gift recipient and an income tax exempt charitable entity for income and capital gains tax purposes.
