WHAT WE DO

The Lung Institute of Western Australia (LIWA) is a leading research organisation dedicated to fighting all forms of lung disease, including asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema (or COPD), bronchiectasis, lung cancer and pneumonia.

As one of only two institutes in Australia with this focus, LIWA prides itself on bringing together world-class laboratory science, clinical research and clinical practice for the purpose of making a difference to those with lung disease.

Our philosophy is that everyone who comes into contact with the Institute should be better informed and healthier for the experience.

LIWA’s internationally recognised scientists and clinicians conduct a wide range of research with the ultimate aim of better understanding and treating lung disease.  Outside of the lab LIWA also helps people living with respiratory disease through various initiatives, including its community support group LIFE.

For the six million Australians who struggle to take a breath, LIWA offers support and hope for a healthier future.

LIWA is a not for profit organisation and all donations are tax deductible.  To find out more about donating to LIWA visit donating click here
