Lung disease affects one in four Australians.

The Lung Institute of Western Australia aims to better understand why lung disease occurs and how it can be treated.

It does this through world class laboratory and clinical research that is contributing to improved treatments for conditions like asthma, COPD (emphysema), bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis and lung cancer.

LIWA’s scientific research provides the foundation for future treatments, and its clinical trials see the application of  medications and procedures that can result in improvements in quality of life for people living a lung disease, today.

LIWA also provides support for people living with lung disease through the group LIFE that provides a chance to for them to connect with others who share their experience.
