Research at LIWA

LIWA is first and foremost a Research Institute dedicated to using world-class laboratory science, clinical research and clinical practice with the purpose of making a difference to those with lung disease.

LIWA conducts a wide range of research and favours a multidisciplinary approach. The facilities offered within the Institute are multifaceted, with research being conducted in the areas of biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology, genetics, epidemiology, physiotherapy and molecular biology. In addition, the Institute has a dedicated Clinical Trials Unit.

The Institute has two research divisions: Biological Sciences and Clinical Sciences. There are number of Units that sit under the two divisions, they are:
