Background to the Grant
The LIWA Sarcoidosis and other Granulomatous Diseases Grant has been made possible thanks to the generous support of an individual with an interest in seeing treatments for this disease advanced. A donation of $50,000 was received to support the project grant.
This is an area of lung disease with a comparatively low profile and for which much research still needs to take place in order to better understand why it develops in some individuals and how its effects can be lessened.
LIWA is very appreciative of the philanthropy demonstrated by this individual and the trust demonstrated in the organisation to steward research in this area.
