Delirium 2012Sponsor a LIWA rider here. Held in the picturesque town of Cowaramup in the heart of the Margaret River wine region, cyclists compete to see who can complete the most laps around 3.7km circuit in the town in a 24 hr period. Proceeds from the event go to lung research at LIWA. Riders can also raise additional money for LIWA by having their ride sponsored. Potential competitors can find out more about the event by visiting the delirium 24hr cycle race website. Three groups will be riding for LIWA, each captained by a LIWA staff member. The captains are Prof Philip Thompson, CTU Nurse Emily Stevens and Research Scientist Dr Sally Lansley. You can sponsor one or all of our teams (and help them win the inaugural LIWA fundraising trophy) via the EveryDay Hero website. Sponsor a LIWA rider:
Free lung testing While the cyclists are riding LIWA will offer free lung tests to everyone attending the event. These tests can indicate whether there may be early signs of lung disease present. Early diagnosis of lung conditions such as COPD can greatly improve the long term outcomes of the disease. Proceeds raised through the event will be donated to LIWA to support its lung health activities. This is the 2nd year for Delirium and organiser Brendon Morrison said the 2011 event had involved the whole community with a number of local teams getting involved. In addition to the bike race, a wide range of fun activities was held in the town over the course of the event. For the latest news on Delirium for 2012 click here to become a fan
