PhD Top Up Scholarships

LIWA offers PhD Top Up Scholarships to students with outstanding undergraduate results who attract Australian Postgraduate Awards or equivalent scholarships.

Students are encouraged to apply for supplementary awards valued in the first year at $8500 per annum with subsequent annual increases to top up their income for the duration of their research studies with LIWA. Up to four scholarships are available in the following areas of respiratory research:

Molecular Genetics
Inflammation & Immunology
Tissue Repair
Physiotherapy
Infectious Diseases
Air Quality & Lung Health

The awards are open to applicants across Australia who intend to enrol at the University of Western Australia or Curtin University of Technology.

Past PhD Students

LIWA is proud that many of its past PhD students have gone to hold notable research positions interstate and overseas at Institutes such as the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Centre, Monash Immunology and Stem Cell Laboratories, University College London, and receive awards such as the Marie Curie Fellowship.
